The story of our name ...
The original name of the magazine was Zone 4, which Andra and Dan felt was representative of the mountain climates in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah, the states they wanted to cover. Plus it sounded perfect!
Even though the subject matter of the magazine addressed growing conditions in plant hardiness zones 3-7, it became clear that folks in those other zones were unsure. So in 2014 subscribers were asked to suggest new names that were more inclusive. The most popular name was Rocky Mountain Gardening, which took effect with the Spring 2015 issue.
